Autumn Approaches

As autumn approaches in this long, hard year, perhaps we look forward to new things. The beauty of trees full of colorful leaves, for example. Or here in the desert Southwest, we hope for an end to our long, very hot and dry summer. Or maybe new or renewed programs in your health ministries are in the works.

As autumn approaches, so does the Health Ministries Association annual membership meeting. This will be a new adventure as we meet virtually to hear from our Board about the work of HMA over the past year. We’ll see each other’s beautiful faces. We’ll learn about the exciting new opportunities already begun and also on the horizon for HMA members. We’ll meet our Board for 2020-2021. And there will be a festive Oktoberfest feel to spice things up even more. There will also be a chance to share your favorite Autumn/Oktoberfest treat.

So please reserve Thursday, October 29, 2020 on your calendars—7:00 p.m. Eastern, 6:00 p.m. Central, 4:00 p.m. Mountain/Pacific. Zoom meeting and treat-sharing instructions will be sent in the next few weeks, so watch your inbox. We can’t wait to see you!

Friends, this is a long, hard year that none of us will ever forget. Through it all, we dig deeper into our faith, we lean on each other, we pray harder for peace, and we keep showing up for health and hope. In the Jewish/Christian scriptures, Esther realized in a time of crisis for her people that she was where she was for precisely that moment, to save her people. So are we here for precisely such a time as this. We are peace and health in this scary, painful time. The world needs us. So may each of you be blessed, and so be a blessing.
And see you on October 29!
