Now Available! New Podcast Series for Faith Community Nurses: The Heart and Soul of Caring

As announced recently, Catholic Health Initiatives (now part of CommonSpirit Health, one of the nation’s largest health systems) has created a new series of podcasts developed by and for faith community nurses.

I know many nurses are not paid for the work they do within their faith communities. We have a group of faith community nurses who work within CHI, and they are determined to provide FCNs with a new education option, without cost and in a format FCNs can easily fit into their schedules.

In partnership with the Health Ministries Association (HMA), CHI has produced a series of podcasts specifically for faith community nurses. They are based on information presented at the 2018 HMA annual conference.

Our hope is that this series of podcasts will provide information and tools that will support FCNs in their important work. In addition to coming up with the idea for these podcasts, our faith community nurse network also reviewed and refined the content.

The following podcasts are available now on the Mission Online website, Nurses can also listen to them via Apple Podcasts, Google Play and Stitcher.

  • A Conversation with Pam Cipriano (past president, American Nurses Association) and Marlene Feagan (past president, Health Ministries Association)
  • Faith Community Nursing Scope and Standards: What’s New (with Aly Breisch, chair, HMA Scope and Standards Work Group)
  • A Mother’s Story of a Son Suffering with a Substance Abuse Disorder

Future podcasts for faith community nurses will be developed from information presented at the October 2019 HMA Conference.
