ANA is declaring 2017 to be the Year of the Healthy Nurse and every month they are targeting specific wellness issues that all of us can address both personally and with other nurses we know. To learn more about this initiative and their monthly topics, tips, events and resources go to  Nursing World 2017 Year of Health Nurse publication.

ANA defines a healthy nurse as someone who actively focuses on creating and maintaining a balance and synergy of physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, personal and professional wellbeing. You can also get involved with their Engage in the Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation™ Grand Challenge. Collectively they hope to improve the health of the nation’s 3.6 million registered nurses and in turn improve the health of the nation.

April’s topic is Combating Stress. Nurses know stress, yet many struggle to alleviate it effectively. ANA and several partners, including the American Holistic Nurses Association, offer multiple resources for nurses and nurse leaders to access and engage in best self-care, stress-relief, and calming practices.
