The World Health Assembly designated 2020 the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife. The American Nurses Association expanded the celebration to the entire month of May. Traditionally, May 6 is National Nurses Day, beginning a week of celebration, culminating on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale. On May 12, 2020, at 12:00pm (local time), every nurse across the country was invited to pause and observe a moment of silence and prayer in celebration of the heart and spirit of the profession of nursing.
Here is a short video celebrating the profession of nursing throughout the years – The Year of the Nurse and Midwife: What would Florence say?
Also, on the Members side of HMA’s website Faith Community Nurses were invited to write about their entry into, and journey through, the profession of nursing. Please log-in and read their stories.
