2023 HMA AWARD NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

 

HMA has been awarding leadership awards since 2002, when it first created the Wilkerson-Droege Award. We invite you to nominate a leader for one the prestigious awards recognizing any HMA member who has shown leadership and commitment to the faith and health movement in their community or on a national platform. Candidates include clergy, health ministers, faith community nurses and program leaders. Please consider nominating a deserving colleague for one of HMA’s national awards:

 

1. Wilkerson-Droege Award: Honoring a distinguished HMA member who exemplifies creative, compassionate leadership, and visionary faithfulness to the faith-health movement. Any HMA member in any area of health ministry is eligible for this honor. This award is in memory of its first recipients: Sister June Wilkerson and Rev. Dr. Thomas Droege. 2. Westberg Leadership in Faith Community Nursing Award: Presented to an outstanding Faith Community Nurse and HMA Member who is recognized for significant contributions in advancing the practice of faith community nursing within the faith community. 3. Norma Small Outstanding Coordinator in Faith Health Ministry Award: Recognizing a distinguished Health Ministries Coordinator and HMA member in any area of health ministry who directs a regional network or who directs a program within a health system. The nominee demonstrates a resourcefulness to implement change through significant innovative teaching strategies which respond to diverse needs within faith communities and health systems. Deadline for Nomination Submission is August 10, 2023. The awards will be presented at the national HMA Conference in October/November.

Note: Current HMA Board Members are not eligible be nominated.

Norma Small Outstanding Coordinator Leadership Award

Recognizing a distinguished Health Ministries Coordinator, HMA Member, who directs a regional network or program within a health system. The nominee demonstrates a resourcefulness to implement change through significant innovative teaching strategies which respond to diverse needs within faith communities and health systems. This award was established in 2018 to be given in honor and memory of Norma Small, PhD, R.N.

This award recognizes an outstanding Faith Community Nurse who exemplifies faith community nursing and has achieved success in implementing a practice that is faith centered, community driven and wholistic in its approach toward health promotion, disease prevention and spiritually integrated.
